What is a
Scroll Counter?
A scroll counter is an app that tracks every upward or downward swipe you make on your smartphone — giving you an exact number of how many times you scrolled through social media feeds in a day.
Most people have no idea how much they scroll. Studies show the average person scrolls through 300 feet of content every day. A scroll counter makes that invisible habit brutally visible.
Dr. Brainrot goes further: it doesn't just count your scrolls — it uses that count to trigger consequences, track your brain decay stage, and push you to recover.

// HOW_IT_WORKS
How Dr. Brainrot
counts your scrolls
Using Android's Accessibility Service to track every swipe — with zero data leaving your phone.

Accessibility Service
Dr. Brainrot uses Android's Accessibility Service — the same system used by screen readers — to listen for scroll gestures inside social apps. No screenshots, no content reading.

Count Triggers Decay
Each scroll increments your daily counter. When you cross a threshold (every 100 scrolls), your brain decay stage advances — and a full-screen overlay interrupts your feed.

Recovery Reduces Count
Do push-ups to remove 10 scrolls from your count. Read a Wikipedia article to remove 5. Physical and mental effort are the only way back.
// PRIVACY NOTE
The Accessibility Service permission is used solely to detect scroll gestures and app switches. Dr. Brainrot never reads screen content, never takes screenshots, and never sends any data to external servers. Your scroll count stays on your device.
// WHY_IT_MATTERS
Why counting
your scrolls matters
You can't change a habit you can't measure. Screen time apps tell you how many hours you spent in an app — but they don't tell you how deep into the scroll hole you went.
A scroll counter gives you a concrete, comparable number. 50 scrolls vs 400 scrolls. That number is harder to ignore than “1 hour 23 minutes.”
Dr. Brainrot turns that number into a visual — your brain literally decaying on screen. That's the moment the habit starts to break.

Everything in
the scroll counter
Real-Time Scroll Count
Every swipe you make is counted in real time. No estimation, no sampling — every single scroll on every tracked app.
Multi-App Tracking
Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter/X, Reddit, Facebook, Snapchat, LinkedIn — all tracked with a single scroll counter.
Daily Scroll Limits
Set your daily scroll limit: Easy (400), Normal (200), or Doomscroller (100). When you hit the limit, the doctor intervenes.
5 Decay Stages
Your scroll count maps to a brain decay stage — from Healthy to Full Rot. The higher your count, the worse your brain looks.
Recovery Challenges
Do push-ups to subtract 10 scrolls. Read a Wikipedia article to subtract 5. Earn back your scroll budget the hard way.
Scroll History
View your daily scroll count history and decay stage progression. See exactly which days you lost control.
